Social Enterprises and Nonprofits and their Ecosystems
RUC research begins with the evaluation of previous work – empirical as well as theoretical – on social enterprises (SEs), non-profit organizations (NPOs) and their respective social embedding in African and international contexts. Analysis of the state of the art and the comparative analysis of concepts and approaches is carried out by the African and German research teams at the University of Münster and the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg (Wits). A comprehensive report on the state of the art as well as first recommendations on how concepts and experiences can be used for resilient urban development in African cities concludes the first research phase.
