Prof. Dr. Bhekinkosi Moyo
Prof. Dr. Bhekinkosi Moyo, director of the African Centre on Philanthropy and Social investment and faculty member at Wits business school, University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Togethter with Annette Zimmer from the University of Münster he is heading the RUC project. His research interests are social investment, philanthropy, civil society and development. He currently teaches Social Entrepreneurship Initiatives and is in the midst of developing a Masters Course on Philanthropy and Social Investment. He has been a CEO of non-governmental organizations and sees them pivot towards sustainability.
Prof. Dr. Jacob Mati
Jacob Mati is the Deputy Director of the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment and an Associate Professor at the University of Witwatersrand’s Wits Business School. He is a multi-disciplinary pracademic with formal education and training in Public Administration, Politics, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, and Tertiary Teaching. His professional experience spans over twenty years of work in academia, civil society and consulting in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. Jacob has written and published extensively on civil society, volunteerism and philanthropy, and their intersections with development and governance, especially in Africa. Previously he has consulted at United Nations Volunteers and taught sociology at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji, and is an Associate Research Fellow at the Society, Work and Development Institution (SWOP). He serves on the board of Grassroots Trust in Kenya, and on the Accountability advisory committee of the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP).
Dr. Melody Mandevere
Melody Mandevere is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CAPSI, who is passionate about the African continent, looking within Africa to solve African problems. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand and is an experienced administrator who worked for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority for more than fifteen years, where she was part of teams rolling out different projects in the authority. She holds a Master of Commerce in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance, a Bachelor’s in Business Management a Diploma in Labour Relations and a Diploma in Computer Studies, all from Midlands State University.
